All of Annie’s Exotic Orchids are sold in pots. In the wild, orchids can live for around 20 years, in pots they can last anywhere from 10 to 15 years. When growing orchids there are a few constants, they do not like full sun, while most like bright light, they do like to be kept watered with high humidity. They can be kept indoors and if you live in northern Australia, they can also be outdoors as a feature in your garden.
If you are just commencing your orchid journey, then we’re pleased to provide some basic tips on growing and caring for your orchid. Light is critical, with most orchids preferring bright, indirect light; so windowsills and outdoor tables are a good place to put your potted orchid. If you are in southern states, you need to maintain humidity levels for your orchid, the ambient conditions would be fine for northern locations.
Orchids like to be kept moist, not too wet or dry. Generally speaking, watering once a week in winter and twice a week in warmer months is usually sufficient. If in doubt err on the side of under rather than over watering, as if they get too wet, the roots may start to rot. Always trim off the dead flower spikes, once flowering has finished.
