Bulbophyllums Orchids, also known as ‘Bulbos’, are popular with collectors thanks to their variety and unusual flower shapes and colours. There are over 2,000 species in this genus, making it the largest in the orchid family. They thrive in high humidity, so if you are in a southern state this one will do best in a greenhouse. Paphiopedilums Orchids are also known as ‘Slipper Orchids’ or ‘Paphs’. They are quite striking in appearance and come in a range of colours and patterns. Phalaenopsis Orchids are also known as ‘Moth Orchids’ and are popular as an indoor plant for homes and offices. Its flowers are large and long-lasting and the more than 70 species of Phalaenopsis come in a range of different colours, colour combinations and patterns. These orchids generally grow to a maximum of 30cm with flower stems reaching much higher. Phragmepediums Orchids are very similar to Paphiopedilums Orchids and are also known as ‘Lady Slipper Orchids’ and ‘Phrag’. These orchids prefer semi-shaded to bright light, but not direct light, and thrive in high humidity. In regard to water, they like to be kept ‘moist’ - not too wet or dry. The orchids in this species have big showy flowers which make them a real statement piece, for home and office.
