A spectacular Colombian unifoliate Cattleya species, famous for its enormous, fragrant spring blooms and its association with Easter.
Native to Colombia, especially Boyacá, Casanare, Cundinamarca, and Valle del Cauca Elevation: 1170–1600 m (intermediate–cool growing)
Grows as a medium‑sized epiphyte with cylindrical‑clavate pseudobulbs and a single leathery leaf
Strongly fragrant (almond‑scented)
Typically, 1–3 flowers per inflorescence, emerging from a prominent spathe Colour: usually soft pink‑lavender with a rich, full lip (var. alba also exists)
Blooming Season
Blooms in spring, from a sheath formed before winter dormancy
Often called the “Easter Orchid”, a name it shares with Cattleya mossiae because it blooms around Easter in the Northern Hemisphere
