Dendrobium chapaense is a small, elegant species from northern Vietnam, southern Yunnan (China), and Assam, growing in wet tropical forests as a pseudo bulbous epiphyte. It was formally described in 2006 and is now an accepted species with several historical synonyms. Flowers are typically white to pale greenish‑white, often with a yellow to orange‑red lip.
Some clones show pinkish or reddish tips on the petals and sepals.
Blooms are delicate, bell‑shaped, and usually appear singly or in small clusters from the upper nodes of mature canes.
Flower size is modest, generally 2–3 cm, but the contrast of the lip makes them stand out. Light, sweet fragrance in warm conditions (not strongly documented but noted by growers).
Blooming, typically late summer to early autumn in its native range.
Leaves are narrow, medium‑green, and arranged along the upper half of the cane.
Plants remain compact, usually 15–30 cm tall.
Roots are fine and wiry, suited to airy mounts or small pots.
