It’s a distinctive member of Dendrobium section Holochrysa, a group known for small to medium plants with vivid yellow blooms. The species is well‑documented as a hot–cool grower found on trees and rocks in Yunnan and Sichuan at elevations of 200–2150m. Brilliant golden yellow to rich lemon-yellow blooms.
Lip often shows a velvety orange or deeper yellow centre.
Flowers are 3–4 cm across, thick and waxy.
Blooms appear 1–2 per inflorescence, arising from the upper nodes of mature canes.
Strong honey‑like fragrance, especially in warm weather.
Flowers in spring to early summer.
Can bloom sporadically through winter in warm climates.
Mature canes may flower for multiple seasons.
Growth resembles a miniature clump of bamboo.
Roots are fine and wiry, suited to mounts or airy media.
