Dendrobium hibiki is a popular and sought-after primary hybrid.
It is a cross between two New Guinea species: Dendrobium bracteosum and Dendrobium laevifolium. It is a compact grower. Often reaching only 10-15 cm (4-6 inches) tall at maturity, making it suitable for windowsills. It produces clusters of beautiful, long-lasting, typically hot pink or magenta flowers that emerge from the nodes of the canes.
The blooms can last for several months, often between 2 to 6 months. It is known to flower frequently, sometimes year-round.
Prefers bright, filtered light (similar to Cattleya conditions). Avoid harsh, direct midday sun. Bright, indirect light is necessary for best blooming. It tolerates a wide range and does not strictly require a cool winter rest
Water thoroughly, allowing the potting medium to dry slightly between waterings. It generally prefers a wet/dry cycle. Roots should not stay completely dry but avoid letting the plant sit in water.
Good air circulation is important.Potting: Can be grown potted in a well-draining orchid mix (like small-medium bark) or mounted. It grows best when slightly pot-bound.
