Dendrobium Ovipostoriferum

Price range: $25.00 through $45.00

mounted and 80ml pot

Dendrobium ovipostoriferum is a rare and distinctive Bornean Formosae‑section species known for its white, starry flowers with a yellow to orange mid‑lobe, its black‑hairy leaves and sheaths, and its preference for hot to warm, bright, exposed habitats. It is one of the more unusual Formosae because it grows at low elevations (100–500 m) and tolerates heat far better than most of its relatives.
Section: Formosae (the “Nigrohirsute” dendrobiums)
Common name: Egg‑Laying Dendrobium (referring to the mentum shape)
Distribution: Endemic to Borneo, especially Kalimantan.
Habitat: Exposed ridges, bright conditions, 100–500 m elevation.
This combination—Formosae + lowland heat tolerance—is extremely unusual and makes it one of the few Formosae species that can thrive in tropical climates.
