Stanhopea tigrina is a cool to warm growing, Mexican, medium sized, epiphytic species found at elevations of 600 to 1700 meters with ovoid, slightly compressed, dark green pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, plicate, elliptic, petiolate, dark green leaf that blooms on a pendulous, 2 to 8 flowered, 15 cm long inflorescence that is subtended by large, chartaceous bracts, and carries large, fragrant flowers occuring in the sumer and fall. Om offer the orchid is not far from flowering.
