Phalaenopsis mini mark
Select options This product has multiple variants. The options may be chosen on the product pagePhalaenopsis ‘Mini Mark’ is a popular and charming miniature orchid hybrid, highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts for its compact size and unique, long-lasting flowers.
Origin and GeneticsProvide bright, indirect light. An east-facing or shaded south/west-facing window is ideal. Direct, intense sunlight can easily scorch its leaves.
* Temperature: This orchid thrives in warm temperatures. A good daytime range is 70-85°F (21-29°C), with a slight drop at night to around 62-65°F (17-18°C). A cooler period of a few weeks (around 6 weeks) in autumn can help to initiate flower spikes.
* Watering: Water when the potting medium is nearly dry. Because it’s a miniature, it’s often potted in sphagnum moss, which holds more moisture than bark. It’s crucial not to let the roots sit in standing water, as this can lead to root rot. A good way to water is by soaking the pot for a few minutes and then letting it drain completely. Due to the smaller pot size, it may need to be watered more frequently than a standard Phalaenopsis.
* Humidity: ‘Mini Mark’ appreciates high humidity, ideally between 50% and 70%. Placing it on a humidity tray or using a humidifier can be very beneficial, especially in a dry indoor environment.
* Potting Medium: Miniature Phalaenopsis are often sold in sphagnum moss, which is suitable for their smaller root systems. Repotting is recommended every 2-3 years, or when the moss or bark mix begins to break down.
* Fertilizer: During the growing season (spring and summer), use a balanced orchid fertilizer diluted to about half strength every 1-2 weeks. Reduce or stop fertilizing during the winter months.
* Reblooming: After the flowers have faded, you can cut the spike to just above the second node (joint) from the bottom. This can encourage a new side-shoot to form, leading to a new flush of blooms.
