Dendrobium macrophyllum var ternatense
Dendrobium macrophyllum var ternatense has more restricted native range. it is found in specific regions of Borneo (Sabah), Sulawesi, and the Moluccas (Ternate). It grows as an epiphyte in wet tropical biomes, from coastal areas to higher elevations.
It is very similar to the main species. It possesses the same robust, club-shaped pseudobulbs and large leathery leaves. The flowers are also in dense, erect clusters with the characteristic hairy sepals and veined lip. The primary difference is often found in the subtle details of the flowers.
It is a warm growing epiphyte that is easy to cultivate.
Light; Bright, indirect light is best. Avoid direct afternoon sun to prevent leaf burn.
This variety thrives in intermediate to warm condition.
Water regularly, allowing the potting mix to dry out slightly between waterings. It does not have a strict rest period, so constant watering is important, although it should be reduced slightly in cooler months. -
